The Run: Moving Natural Medicine Forward!Do you wish there was a way to make naturopathic medicine more visible in your hometown? Wish there were more naturopathic physicians available in your area? At Bambú Clinic, we often get calls from around the US, calls from people looking for local licensed naturopathic physicians. We find that more and more, people are looking for medicine that goes beyond medicating symptoms, beyond a quick fix to a true solution for their health issues. This month, Bambú Clinic discusses The RUN: Moving Natural Medicine Forward and what you can do to get involved and help publicize naturopathic medicine. |

Back in 2010, Dr. Dennis Godby, MA, ND, decided he would combine his love of running and his passion for naturopathic medicine. Dr. Godby recognized the need for naturopathic medicine to become more widely known to patients and politicians in the United States. |

So, he began planning this run across the US to publicize natural health care options and to bring health fairs and other naturopathic events to cities and towns along the running route. Dr. Asmar just returned from running with Dr. Godby and the three young men for the first week of their journey, from San Francisco to Sacramento, CA. In 100 degree heat, many supporters came out to support the cause of natural medicine! The team has received TV, newspaper and radio interviews and the movement is just beginning to grow. On November 11th, we will run into New York City, hopefully to a crowd of thousands!! A grassroots movement, The RUN is a fantastic way to draw media attention to the fantastic form of medicine we all love – medicine that treats the cause of disease, medicine that respects the body’s ability to heal itself, medicine that treats using the most natural methods available. As The Run moves east, media events along the way will draw the public’s attention and create opportunities to spread the word about natural medicine. |

As the RUN moves eastward, please visit the website to track its progress and to find ways to get involved. Here are a few ideas to get you started: 1.Tell everyone you know that this movement is happening. The most important part of this grassroots movement is that people know it is happening. You can learn more at The Run’s website or follow the RUN on Facebook. 2.Make a donation today! Operating expenses come to almost $5000 per week. If you care about naturopathic medicine and want to help, please consider donating to the cause and encourage your friends and family to do the same at TheRun.org. 3.Check out the itinerary. Invite friends and family to attend one of our events if you are nearby. Or, help us find events planners in towns and cities that we are passing through, but are not already represented. 4.Recommend naturopathic medicine to your friends and family who may not have had the opportunity to experience the amazing health benefits of this alternative primary care option. 5.If you have any questions about the RUN, do not hesitate to ask Dr. Asmar. She has been hard at work on this every waking moment that she has not been at the office. |
