What is it?

As “itis” means “inflammation,” tendonitis is an inflammation of the tendon, connective tissue that adheres muscle to bone.

Tendonitis can be acute or chronic, and can vary in severity from mild to excruciating. It is often a result of overuse or injury, and accounts for half of all sports-related injuries.

Key Points:

  • Inflammatory condition
  • Can be acute or chronic
  • Often due to overuse or injury
  • Can be prevented by proper sports training or ergonomics
  • May be debilitating and cause loss of proper function of the affected area
  • Tendons take 12 weeks to heal – and must be given the time and support to do so

How do we treat it?

We look at tendonitis as a sign that your body is unable to adapt to the stresses that are have been placed on it. We help you analyze your ergonomics or training needs, and encourage you to rest the area while it heals.

Dietary guidance will be integral to your healing protocol, as well as anti-inflammatory remedies that help your body to heal as quickly as possible.

The ultimate goal is to support you in healing from your current condition while also preventing recurrences in the future.
